Legacy

Okay so new year resolutions are meant to be well...broken...and worked on. :) So much for the posts.

But hey...here I am.

The last few weeks have been super cool and sad. I managed to be in the right spot at the right time during graduation and had the honor of spending a lot of the day with the Schwab family. Mainly Dr. Schwab and his daughter Laura. Dr. Schwab was an incredible man. Sadly I say incredible because he passed away a few days ago. What struck me is the legacy he left. It was one that you don't see often. One where people talked on and on about who he was, his passion as a pediatrician, his love for life and those around him. I was so blessed to have been in his presence for a short while and I will truly never forget that day.

I have to admit- I was jealous of Laura. I was jealous that even though she is fatherless like me now she has oodles of people talking about her father and how amazing he was. My dad was amazing too. He was kind, generous, compassionate and a great father. It's just he left this world so terribly- and did not leave a legacy...at least a good one.

Today though I was told that he did leave a legacy...and a really good one...me.

Never have I ever thought of it that way. I'm his legacy...

Which reminds me...what kind of legacy do I want to leave?
